Malay Mail

I ended my association with the Malay Mail yesterday. Disquiet will no longer feature as a column.

Thank you sir. The way I see it, they no longer deserve the honor of having Disquiet being featured as a column there.

The only decent thing to do! Bravo, Imtiaz.

Love your guts and beliefs.

Many, though unseen, are behind you, Malik. Trust me on this.

Hello Malik,

ironic isn't it? How we defend someone because we think he has principles and how we are shown wrong when he sells himself. You know what they say about hired hacks.

Please carry your Monday article on Perak on your blog. We'll always be looking forward to reading you. Sadly, the same cannot be said about the Malay Mail anymore.

Good for you!!!!!

MM has a new pro-M CEO. I sort of expected this to happen.
Thanks for the articles you contributed to MM. Enjoyed every word of it.

Good show of integrity, sir!
It's obvious that with the "Sold-Out" Brugger as CEO, MM will no longer be an independent voice.
I will miss their investigative reporting.
NST also sacked Tunku Aziz's column when he decided to join DAP.
It seems MM's integrity died together with democracy in Perak yesterday.

Bravo. There is no more need to help them to pretend to have relevance by hiding behind your words. Leave them to wallow in their barrenness.

Sir, I have always admired you for who you are, what you stand for, and the calm, quiet, gentlemanly demeanour that you manage to preserve at all times.

Glad to know this. Otherwise, I may have to ignore your column... which is also difficult for me.
Bravo!

I knew it was coming. There is no way an upright man's views would be accepted by low class journalism.
In any case your views are too superior for that inferior publication.
I reckon your readership following here, Malaysian Insider and elsewhere is larger than in Malay Mail - a third class newspaper. Who reads this paper anyway?

Has it anything to do with the appointment of a new CEO at MM, the happenings at Ipoh or your contract with MM expired and they did not renew it or all three reasons?

Perhaps you'd care to clarify?

I don't buy the MM anyway and it's no big loss since we can tune in to your blog.

Bravo Malik ... I have stop reading the spin MSM since many moons ago and I dont seems to miss anything ... Again Bravo to you

Bravo Mr Malik, you did the right thing as MM will be biased and non-independent with the incoming CEO who has lost all credibility.

I chose to leave, there was no issue of a contract not being renewed nor was I asked to leave. It was my choice as a matter of principle.

I think the paper was very cleverly revamped when it changed hands and it has made an impression on a wide range of readers. I was also fortunate enough to have had an opportunity to work with Sheila Rahman and Tony Francis who were kind enough to give me the latitude I needed.

You've made a wise decision. I think theSun would be a better choice for you to write on print media, at least it's a paper that dare to speak out instead of all the cover-up & flattering

I have to put in my word about this person too, since there's an opportunity to do so right now. No, not about Rocky Bru but Sheila Rahman, the senior editorial consultant.

I don't know Mr Tony Francis, so I'll rightly refrain from giving any opinion of the man Rocky replaces.

MIS mentioned being "fortunate enough to have had an opportunity to work with Sheila Rahman..." I share the same sentiments - it has been a singular experience for me due to this very special person.`I have to put in my word about this person too since there's an opportunity to do this right now. I share the same feeling: with me, I'd say having a working relationship with Sheila has been a wondrous experience for me. Now this is someone quite special.

Her warmth is genuine. She's also intelligent, open-minded, and has a great sense of humour. She is, really, a most unforgettable person.

MM is a gone case for good, so is the new person at the helm.

For good, because the paper, as Malik puts it, "was very cleverly revamped when it changed hands and it has made an impression on a wide range of readers" but now!

It is a paper without a soul, sadly. It's only a tool. RIP, MM.

With Rocky finally showing his true colors (anyone who has followed his blog would notice the change over time).

His writing was more and more like Kadir Jasin's by the day as he danced around words and issues as only a spin doctor would. The honesty in his writing was long gone. He had developed a political agenda that finally overcame the journalist in him.

So it is finally out in the open. Quid pro quo, but I think it was Mahathir who managed to co-opt him. Najib and gang were generally spared - and Rocky now has his reward.

just as rocky became the CEO?

coincidence?

I am with you Imtiaz on this.

Sir, May your tribe increase and multiply in this land in terrible birth pangs.

May the Lord God of heaven protect you, and make you bold to speak the truth, and battle for justice.

"Pr 17:15 He that justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the just, even they both are abomination to the LORD." Solomon, Proverbs 17:15.
